Commonwealth War Graves

A Worthwhile Endeavour

Our Magazine Editor and Assistant Churchwarden, Sally, was asked last summer (2024) by a visitor to the church if she could show them where the Commonwealth War Graves were in the churchyard, plus others that were on his list. Unfortunately she had no information to hand at that time so decided it would make perfect sense to produce a booklet about them.

She started working on the booklet in February 2025 and initially just did the three Commonwealth War Graves. Once done, she then decided to include four others that were in the military and that are buried in Keston Churchyard. She went out into the churchyard a number of times with the church maps to locate and photograph the gravestones, and did a lot of Googling for information!

Sally would like to mention a special thank you to Peter Zieminski and Peter Osborne for their helpful advice and comments, this was invaluable.

The first print run was done in August 2025 and copies are available in the church foyer, (a £2.50 donation would be appreciated to cover the printing cost), plus a copy in a plastic folder for people to borrow, go into the churchyard with and then replace in the foyer.

Sally commented, ‘I’m pleased it’s done, we must not forget these men’.
